Canopy
The jungle ecosystem is full of symbiosis and mutualism, and players must grow tall trees and lush jungle plants to attract the most diverse wildlife. Canopy is a game in which two players compete to grow the most bountiful rainforest. By carefully selecting what grows in your forest, you can create the ideal balance of flora and fauna and develop a thriving rainforest.
Gameplay
In the game, players take turns selecting new cards for their forest from three growth piles. Each time you look at a pile, you may select it and add those cards to your rainforest tableau. You can also choose to return the pile face down, adding one additional card to it. As the piles grow, you must search for the plants and animals that will benefit your forest the most. Choose carefully as the jungle also contains dangers in the form or fire, disease, and drought.
In between rounds you’re going to score for biggest tree, other plant life and animals. You also have to be prepared for the dangers of the forest because they’re going to cost you points, unless you have found some animals which can negate those effects.
Summarised
The drafting and push your luck mechanism is how the game draws people in. It’s a very pretty and easy going game with beautiful art by Vincent Dutrait. The game is originally designed for two players, but hit the market with additional rules for three and four players.
