Take on the role of one of the great monarchs of the past, and show your valor! You will arrive in a vast and rich territory, but the road to the prosperity is filled with challenges. Build your own Brazilian empire in this 4X euro game. In Brazil: Imperial you will need to do do several things. You will construct buildings which provide you resources. The land needs to be explored. You want to acquire the support of the greatest personalities of the country. All the while you will also recruit a powerful army to protect your interest against the rival states. When you complete missions, you’ll progress to a more advanced era. Each era comes with new interesting options of development and victory points. In the end, the best monarch receives the title of Brazilian Emperor and constructs a new era of prosperity, freedom and peace!
Gameplay
In more detail, while playing in a modular map board that recreate real regions, you use a combination of worker placement, area majority, and individual powers to construct an empire in Brazil between the 16th and 19th centuries. You start by choosing one of the available monarchs and its personal game board and components; some monarchs are strong in combat, while others prioritize science or exploration. You receive tasks that advance you to a new era when you complete them. This will give you access to more power constructions as you move into the second and third eras of the game, then you choose a starting point on the shared map. On your turn you have to choose a different action slot on your payer board and perform the chosen action. You can enhance those action slots by producing certain products to support your strategy.

Brazil: Imperial is at its heart a 4X game (Explore, Exploit, Exchange and Exterminate). It plays as smoothly as any well designed euro game. Although there is an option for direct conflict, the game establishes a fine line of maintained peace. During the game there is a constant lingering threat of invasion and you’ll have to consider twice before leaving any assets unprotected. Where other 4X games are often situated in space, the setting of this game definitely give this game an edge. It’s a deep strategic game with interesting paths to victory.
