Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small
In Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small, you’re a farmer in a wooden shack with your spouse and little else. You might think about having kids in order to get more work accomplished, but first you need to expand your house. And what are you going to feed all the little rugrats?
Gameplay
On a turn, you get to take only two actions, one for you and one for the spouse, from all the possibilities you’ll find on a farm: collecting clay, wood, or stone; building fences; and so on.
Summarised
Agricola is a well established name within the board game community. It propelled the worker placement mechanism to greater heights. Some would describe this as happy points fest Agricola with all the animals and none of the feeding. This version is a solid distillation of Agricola into a shorter, simpler two-player game. There’s still plenty to fight about, and I think the removal of the cards and the replacement with a small number of special buildings per game adds variety and contention while not requiring too much reading and upfront strategising at the start of the game.
The Big Box version contains the base game and everything from the two previously released expansions.
